Aims and Objectives

UKAE has four aims

1. Networking

We have found a number of aikidoka in the UK interested in "off-mat" applications and hope to contact more.

We believe in creating links with all members of all organisations regardless of style or political affiliation. Other aims are to establish strong links with all organisations in the UK and for all serious practitioners of Aikido to be aware of our work.

These associations would also extend to the wider community including youth group, business and local authorities.

2. To Encourage AE Work

To encourage aikido extensions activities in the UK through connecting people, providing information, encouraging new and existing projects and starting the fist UKAE project in education. We would like this to be a cooperative effort, with all those individuals and dojos interested getting involved.

3. Support Work

The international AE community already helps various projects throughout the world. Some of the projects UKAE will initially be involved with include:

  • Acão Harmonia Brasil,  - Aikido with slums kids

  • Salaam Shalom Training (Israel/Palestine) – Joint Arab Israeli peace building initiative

  • Awassa Youth Campus, Ethiopia – Community peace dojo alongside HIV awareness circus

Closer to home, we are in the process of developing the first UKAE project. More information will be available soon.

4. Have Fun

and finally..... We all enjoy Aikido, else we wouldn't practice. We aim to have fun along the way, so why not come and join us.
